“I was scared to deliver my child at a health facility during COVID-19. I was afraid of getting infected. However, GHEI supported me by providing essential items such as antiseptics, soap and bleach that are needed to deliver at health facilities. They also gave necessary guidance that helped me prepare to bring my child safely into this world.”

Martha Donkor from Ampenkrom community in rural Ghana choose to deliver her baby conveniently and confidently at the health facility.

When a mother chooses to deliver her baby outside of health facilities, she puts her own life and that of her newborn in danger, particularly if complications arise. In rural Ghana, health facilities can be difficult to reach and without adequate planning and resources, pregnant women are forced to deliver at home.

Our Health Facility Delivery Incentive Program encourages pregnant women to deliver at health facilities by reducing financial barriers and addresses common misconceptions through awareness creation.

Join us this GivingTuesday and together we will ensure a safe delivery process for pregnant women in rural Ghana during COVID-19.
